Benedict Radcliffe's metal sculpture of a Lamborghini Koenig Countach is something out of Tron or Wonder Woman's invisible plain.

Depthscraper

This is an idea proposed back in the 1930's on how to construct large building that could deal with earthquakes. The theory is that underground tunnels suffer less damage during an earthquake than the buildings on top of the surface. I especially like the giant mirror that would reflect sunlight down into the building. We need to get one of these built in San Francisco.

Michael Jackson R.I.P.

A real case of needing to seperate the art from the artist.

Product Placement

Mel Ramos

These stunning painting by Mel Ramos could definitely sell a few sodas. Ramos was part of the same Pop Art Movement that brought Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein to prominence. Although some people find his work with corporate brands to be ironic Ramos has said that the work is respectful.

Soccer Shocker!!!

The U.S. men's soccer team defeats the worlds number one ranked team. Spain had won a record 15 straight games and were expected to easily defeat the U.S. team but you have to play the game before you count the stats. The U.S. team won the game 2-0 and will now compete in their first ever FIFA final at any level. Things don't get any easier though since now they will face either Brazil or host country South Africa. Here's hoping this is a sign of what to expect in the World Cup next year.

Frank Lloyd Wright Lego Sets

My favorite toy growing up was Lego. I would spend hours each day building the cars, planes and spaceships from my favorite cartoons and then destroy them in epic battles I would stage on the living room carpet. I have not "played" with Legos in years but that might just change with the release of their Frank Lloyd Wright. Lego has released two sets so far the Guggenheim and Falling Water with four more to come.

The Slits To Release New Album

Thirty years ago The Slits released Cut, an album that merged punk and reggae in a way that did not shame either genre. On October Narnack will release Trapped Animal which is only the bands third album. This Slits is a bit different than the one that made Cut. Original members Ari Up and Tersa Politt are joined by three other ladies including Holie Cook daughter of Sex Pistol Paul Cook. Talk about things coming full circle, dad must be proud.

Koko Taylor R.I.P.

Blues legend Koko Taylor passed away today at the age of 80. She was known as the "Queen Of Blues" and played with blues legends like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf as well as rock stars like Led Zeplin's Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Koko Tayor came to my attention three years age when digging thru a pile of CD's I found her greatest hits on the Chicago label Chess. Ms. Taylor, like many blues musicians before, entertained her fans for as long as possible performing live as recently as last May.

Greatest Album Covers

A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders

Midnight Marauders was "Tribes" third album and came out on November 9, 1993. Possibly inspired by the cover to the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band the cover was a whose who of in hip hop at the time. The head shots included legends like Afrika Bambaataa, all three of the Beastie Boys, Chuck D., Dr Dre, Mc Lyte and Ice-T. In total the cover features 71 hip hop artists and radio DJ's. The album was also released in three different color variations: red, black and green. Midnight Marauders was a group at the prime of their abilities giving credit to those who inspired them.
