Mess With Texas
Every year during SXSW there is a big ass party at Waterloo Park and it's free! This years set list kills it with Black Lips, Kid Sister, Vivian Girls, Abe Vigoda, Circle Jerks, Cursive, Thermals and much much more. Check it out on Saturday March 21 starting at 11:30 am.

New To Me
The Manhattan Love Suicides
With all the hype that went on last year over the Vivian Girls I wonder why more people were touting the virtues of The Manhattan Love Suicides. Their songs hit all the right audio pleasure spots: Jesus and Mary Chain, 60's girl groups, My Bloody Valentine. The bands recently released a very generous 27 track compilation of old and new tracks but the quality of the songs is much higher than normal albums of this sort.

The Shape of Punk to Comes.
Some of my favorite bands of all times fall into the punk and post punk genre, bands like: The Ramones, The Clash, Talking Heads, Television, etc. As a creative force though punk seems to have been dead for a long time. That is untill recently when bands like No Age with their mix of Black Flag and My Bloody valentine, Vivian Girls who deftly blend 60's girl group sounds and shoegaze , tropicali punks Abe Vigoda and artsy hardcore band Fucked up came on my radar.
