What’s more, Ziggy’s coming to San Diego Comic-Con International for a special poster smoking signing.

Funnyman the World's First Jewish Superhero

Funnyman was a short lived comic book series created by Superman's Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Via. Boing Boing

Funnyman was a clown-like superhero who used gags, pranks and Yiddishisms to defeat his humor-deficient enemies. He was a dead ringer for Danny Kaye, one of my favorite comedians. The comic book was a total flop. It ran for six issues and went out of business. Siegel and Shuster tried to keep it going as a newspaper strip, but gave up after a year. The team never worked together again.

Superman VS. Muhammad Ali

In the fall of 1978 DC Comics released this issue in which the man from Krypton and Muhammad Ali went toe to toe in the ring. The basic premise is that Superman and Ali have to fight to determine who is Earth's mightiest hero in order to decide who will fight an alien races greatest warrior. With Superman stripped of his powers Ali of course wins the match.

The Art Of David Mack

David Mack is one of the most sought after an original artist in the comic book industry. Even people who think comics are strictly for kids would have a hard time not looking through an issue featuring Mack's art and not being drawn in. He is the creator of his own series Kabuki and also the writer and artist of Marvel's Daredevil.

A Million Dollar Comic

Published in 1938 Action Comics issue one was the first to feature Superman. On Monday an issue was posted for sale online and within a minute was sold for a million dollars which is more than three time the previous record for this comic. Only a hundred issues of this comic are know to exist and only two (including the one sold) are known to be in good condition.

Johnny Cash is a bad ass. For that reason alone giving the man's life story the graphic novel treatment makes perfect sense. Graphic novelist Reinhard Kleist tells the story of Cash's colorful life from his early sessions at Sun Records with Elvis, his legendary concert for the inmates at Folsom Prison, his comeback in the late 90's and heartfelt last days of his life. Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness is the story of a rebel, a man of god, a human dealing with the power of addiction, a family man, a legend and the best damn country music star of all time.

R. Crumb Tackles The Bible

R. Crumb is the king of underground comics. He founded the Underground Comix movement and has been it's most important figure. His characters like the Devil Girl and Fritz The Cat are icons of the lowbrow art movement. Now Crumb is taking on what might his biggest challenge yet, The Bible. More specifically the first book of the Bible Genesis, all 50 chapters of it. His adaptation is taken word for word from the book with his illustrations added. It also comes with a warning: ‘Adult Supervision Recommended for Minors.’

Marvel Vs. Nazi's

So yesterday Disney purchased Marvel. Now that the mouse is in charge will Marvels heroes still have the courage to fight evil like the Nazi's? From what I understand Nazis are people who want universal health care.
