Fox News Continues To Keep Their Heads Firmly Up Their Asses

Watch graffiti artist Saber get attacked by the wing nuts over at Fixed News because of a video advocating health care. The video he produced featured a flag he painted and then scrawled pro-health care messages over. Of course these right wing nut jobs find it offensive while not being offended of the thousands of people who die do to lack of health care each year. It's interesting to see the right's attack on art which started with their assault on Vin Jones.

Dick Cheney - Breast Man

Our former vice president Dick Cheney is a dark dude. He enjoys being compared to Darth Vader for gods sake. I picture Mr. Cheney in a cold dark basement getting off on pictures of torture and war footage (wars he started). When he shot a friend in the face the friend went on the news and apologized to the VP. So in some way I find it compelling that the "Dark Lord" has normal human desires like a nice pair of breasts. In his new book comedian Craig Ferguson writes about a meeting with Mr. and Mrs. Cheney at the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2008 in which Cheney was "ogling" his wife's breasts. It's got to be creepy for any lady to be checked out by Dick.

Candy Is A Gateway Drug To Satanism

Just when it seemed like the religious right couldn't possibly get any nuttier they spring this gem on us. According to a blog posted on Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network's web site about Halloween:

"During this period demons are assigned against those who participate in the rituals and festivities. These demons are automatically drawn to the fetishes that open doors for them to come into the lives of human beings. For example, most of the candy sold during this season has been dedicated and prayed over by witches."

and as for Trick or Treating:

"Curses are sent through the tricks and treats of the innocent whether they get it by going door to door or by purchasing it from the local grocery store. The demons cannot tell the difference."

It looks like the blog has been removed now probably after much mocking.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi: Douchbag Of The Month

One thing that I like to do from time to time is acknowledge people that take being a total douche to new levels. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is that kind of guy. Here are some of his remarks concerning women.

Women are "God's most beautiful gift to men." In order to prevent rape, "we would need as many soldiers as there are beautiful Italian women."

"For those who love to conquer, the joy and the most beautiful satisfaction is in the conquest. If you have to pay, what joy is there?"

"You're more beautiful than you are intelligent,"

An Echo Always Returns

Today Echo and the Bunnymen release their tenth studio album since forming in 1978. Technically they have released 11 albums if you count Reverberation which did not feature original singer Ian McCulloch (I don't). The band released several classic albums in their early days including: Crocodiles, Heaven Up There, Ocean Rain and Porcupine. During the eighties they were locked in a battle with fellow post punk warriors U2 as to who would be the biggest band in Great Britain. Well U2 went on to sell out stadiums around the world and the Bunnymen broke up. Now more than a decade after reforming they continue to release solid albums while U2 have become a parody of themselves.

Something For The Soul Brothers

Blaxploitation films of the early seventies had two things going for them. First off, killer funk and soul soundtracks by the likes of Isaac Hayes and Curtis Mayfield. Second, great movie posters. Some of the worst films of the era had some of the coolest posters. Cars, guns, babes and violence were artistically rendered in a style that is easily recognizable and copied to this day. These are some of my favorites.

Sharpen The Pitchforks!

The American Bankers Association is meeting right now in Chicago and as you might expect some people are not so happy with them. My favorite part of this video is the two employees in the background who seem to not realize there is an angry mob in the lobby.

It's Not Rocket Science. Oh Wait Yes It Is.

On Tuesday NASA will launch a prototype of a new space vehicle it hopes will replace the aging Space Shuttle. The Ares I-X will be the first new planned manned vehicle that NASA has tested in decades. The Ares I-X at 327 feet is the world largest rocket and measures almost double the length of the Space Shuttle. Though this test launch will be human free in the future astronauts would sit in a small capsule in the top of the ship. The price tag for the test flight is $445 million an eye raising number in this economy. The Ares program may be doomed anyways as the Obama administration is seriously looking into NASA's future manned space flight programs.

The Man In Black Now In Black And White

Johnny Cash is a bad ass. For that reason alone giving the man's life story the graphic novel treatment makes perfect sense. Graphic novelist Reinhard Kleist tells the story of Cash's colorful life from his early sessions at Sun Records with Elvis, his legendary concert for the inmates at Folsom Prison, his comeback in the late 90's and heartfelt last days of his life. Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness is the story of a rebel, a man of god, a human dealing with the power of addiction, a family man, a legend and the best damn country music star of all time.

Who Will Pick The Wrong one?

One year for Christmas when I was a little kid my Grandparents got me the Batman movie on VHS. They thought they were getting the new film that just came out but instead I was stuck with the one from the 60's staring Adam West. On the same day Sarah Palin released her book "Going Rouge" the Nation magazine will release a book called "Sarah Palin An American Nightmare". The covers a very similar showing Ms. Palin in her traditional and patriotic red attire. The thought of some poor smuck getting a book full of anti Palin essays for Christmas by mistake is priceless.

Feds Won't Go After Medical Marijuana Users/Suppliers

Well looks like Obama is finally doing something for his base, you know pot smokers. New guidelines for the Justice Department make going after medical marijuana users and their state sanctioned suppliers a non priority. The memo directs a hands off approach in cases where no state laws were violated. Right now 14 states allow some use of medical marijuana to some extent. Hopefully this common sense approach will catch on with more states and encourage a smarter and more compassionate direction in our drug policies.
