Vintage Punk Flyers Redesigned With Swiss Typography

swissted is an ongoing project by graphic designer mike joyce, owner of stereotype design in new york city. drawing from his love of punk rock and swiss modernism, two movements that have absolutely nothing to do with one another, mike has redesigned vintage punk, hardcore, and indie rock show flyers into international typographic style posters. each poster is sized to the standard swiss kiosk dimensions of 35.5 inches wide by 50 inches high and set in berthold akzidenz grotesk medium, all lowercase. every single one of these shows actually happened.

Londons Famous Double Decker Buses Get Moderized

London's iconic double-decker buses are getting a design upgrade (and greener powerplants), as revealed today on the city of London's website. Scheduled to go into service in 2012, the new bus boasts a more "light and airy feel inside the bus" due to extensive use of glass, including along the staircases (there's two), and a "hop-on, hop-off" platform has been added to the rear.

Introducing: The Camper Kart

Inspired by Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road (and the film of the same name that opened this week) artist Kevin Cyr has created a shopping cart that you can live in. Although large enough to house the artist who is 5'8 Cyr views this as more of a piece of art than functional design telling the LA Times:

"I don't consider myself a designer. These are pieces of sculpture. My work is about making a statement. It's about getting people to talk about these issues."

Stamping Out Bad Design

Last January the Royal Mail released a collection of stamps based on 20th century British design. The ten stamps feature British design icons from 1930 to the 1960's including the mini skirt, Concorde, the double decker bus and London Underground map.
