The Slow Decay Of Biosphere 2
It was called Biosphere 2 because our natural environment is Biosphere 1. Located in Oracle Arizona the 200 million dollar project is considered by most to have been a colossal failure due to the project being more of a spectacle than a means of gathering scientific data. These pictures by Noah Sheldon show what happens when all the TV cameras and tourists go away and a facility once believed to be the most exciting thing to happen to science since the moon landing is left to decay. Looking like something out of Aliens or Sunshine the empty halls and overgrown gardens convey a sense of loss and disappointment. I originally read about this on BLDGBLOG which is worth checking out if you have some time to kill.
