R.I.P. Touch And Go Records

Today we get sad news that Touch and Go records has no plans to release any new music. After shutting down their distribution wing the label has decided they will not be releasing anything new but will go ahead with some Jesus Lizard reissues. They do keep the possibility open to release new material in the future. Touch and Go have been a big player in the indy seen releasing records by Slint, TV on the Radio, Ted Leo and The Jesus Lizard.

Boss Worship

It's been a pretty good few months for Bruce Springsteen. His buddy Obama is the new president, he's playing the Super Bowl later this week and he just put out a new album. One thing that has been interesting is how the "Boss" has become name checked by the cream of Indy music with bands like The Arcade Fire, The Hold Steady and the National giving Bruce his do. Two other big Springsteen fans are Ted Leo and The Gaslight Anthem who covered his songs for Pitchfork.
