I've been reading Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian lately and in my head playing a soundtrack to go along with the book. Of course this would include Calexico, Friends of Dean Martinez and Nick Caves soundtrack work. This haunting version All The Pretty Little Horses would be the first track.
