New Shepard Fairey Print "Moon Over Biloxi"

The title of this print “Moon Over Biloxi” is a tribute to the Dead Kennedy’s song “Moon Over Marin”. In 1984 I picked up maybe my 4th punk record which was the 2nd Dead Kennedy’s album “Plastic Surgery Disasters”. The album is a great listen all the way through and includes some blistering tunes like “Riot” and “Bleed For Me” laced with social commentary. The surprise song though is “Moon Over Marin”… detractors have called it the Dead Kennedy’s “U2″ song, but I disagree. “Moon Over Marin” is more melodic than most DK, but juxtaposed with the darkness of the lyrics, the song evokes a powerful sense of existential melancholy. I think the concept that struck me, and stuck with me, is that our disrespect of each other and the planet may doom us , but things will continue without us. I think it is healthy to recognize impermanence, but also to appreciate the value of the ephemeral. Moonlight, real or electric, will probably be around, but what it will be casting light on is the real question. There will always be a moon over Biloxi.

Sorry Aint Enough No More
This is biting rebuke of the assholes who caused the Gulf Coast oil spill. New Orleans musicians Bennie Pete of The Hot 8 Brass Band, trumpet player Shamarr Allen, rapper Dee-1 and Paul Sanchez of Cowboy Mouth put together a nice little protest song here.

Vuvuzelas For BP

I'm really loving this idea:
BP is not feeling the pain they are causing in the Gulf. BP is spending millions on PR. In order to put a bit of public pressure on them, we plan to buy 100 vuvuzelas and hire 100 vuvuzela players off Craigslist to play in front of BP's International Headquarters in London for an entire work day. Ideally, the players will keep coming back every day until they fix the gusher.

BP CEO Gets An Ear Full From Shrimper
As you know already BP CEO Tony Hayward is a piece of shit. The Gulf oil leak has ruined lives and one 4th generation shrimper decided to vent at Hayward's testimony before Congress today. There something wrong with this shrimper being arrested while Hayward walks free after destroying our Gulf.

Greenpeace BP Logo Redesign

A few years ago BP came up with this green logo and rebranded themselves as "beyond Petroleum". This cynical move was to misdirect criticism of a company with a horrible safety record that was making billion in profits while propping up tyrants in the Middle East and exploiting the dirtiest of our natural resources. Well Greenpeace announced a contest to redesign BP's logo and make it more representative of company itself. Now that the Gulf leak has been going for over 40 days these logos are more true than some of the artists may have known at the time.
